Floods can be as small as six inches but can grow to over ten feet high and can be caused from a number of reasons. Here are a few facts on floods.
Extreme and quick floods are classified as flash floods and have been known to carry water up to twenty feet high and can be caused by both man made and natural reasons such as a break of a dam, landslide or overflowing waterways. Tropical storms can also be a cause of natural flooding such as a tsunami or cyclone.
Fast moving water can be much stronger than most people think. For example, water over two feet can be strong enough to push an entire school bus away in its current. Floods have been known to destroy businesses and people with their strong currents.
If a flood is prepared to come into your town or area take all safety precautions to stay safe. Seek higher ground immediately.
